Reporting to the Director of Wellbeing and Health Education, the Assistant Director of Wellbeing is responsible for assisting in the management of all prevention, health education and advocacy services. The position primarily overseas and manages the violence prevention and advocacy program, including the university's compliance in sexual misconduct education, advocacy, crisis intervention and case management for student, faculty, and staff.
The Assistant Director will manage a sexual misconduct prevention team including a lead program coordinator, health educators, campus advocates, student staff, peer educators and volunteers. The Assistant Director advises the university on short and long term strategic goals and develops and maintains campus collaborations and community partnerships to enhance campus wellbeing.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff Only):
Education and Experience:
Master's degree and five years of related professional experience working with college students, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Degree in public health, health promotion/prevention, student affairs, social work or other related discipline.
Licenses, Certificates, Credentials:
Incumbent will be expected to obtain rape crisis counselor and domestic violence crisis counselor certification within six months of the date of hire.
Demonstrated customer service experience requiring a very high level of diplomacy and professionalism.
Comprehensive knowledge of effective personnel management practices and supervisory skills, including motivation, training, professional development, conflict resolution, and progressive discipline, with the demonstrated ability to effectively model appropriate professional behavior.
Knowledge of current and emerging trends within area of collegiate sexual misconduct prevention, Title IX regulations and victim advocacy.
Exceptional knowledge of the principles, problems, and methods of public administration, including organizational, personnel, program, and fiscal management.
Ability to effectively build coalitions to reach strategic goals; promoting a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation, and positive relations.
Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of high level and sensitive interpersonal situations with diverse personalities, and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.
Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere in and outside the University with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within a diverse population and with those from various cultural backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills; ability to effectively communicate information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.
Thorough knowledge of English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
Ability to interpret, communicate and apply policies and procedures.

Working knowledge of or ability to quickly learn University infrastructure, policies and procedures.
Thorough knowledge of research and interview techniques, including the ability to obtain factual and interpretive information through interviews.
Thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures, and practices of sexual misconduct programs, education, and reporting requirements on college or university campuses.
Experience in grant writing and fundraising.
Experience with community non-profit and social services agencies.
Experience working in advocacy in higher-education.
Experience with case management and supervising crisis advocates.
Demonstrated skills in an institutional/educational environment utilizing a customer-oriented and service-centered attitude.
Advanced knowledge and experience in mental health concerns with a particular focus on sexual violence, other trauma, co-occurring substance abuse and health conditions.

Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development.
Must be able to work overtime, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
Retired CalPERS members selected for this vacancy must request and be approved for reinstatement from retirement prior to the start date.
