The System Director is responsible for overseeing diversity, patient care, civil rights, and language services for Lee Health. This leader provides visionary and strategic leadership. By building awareness, creating access, promoting cultural understanding and inspiring health equity for all people in the community. S/he ensures Lee Health is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and Section 1557 of the Patient Protection of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and any other Federal and State nondiscrimination laws relating to patient care which includes but is not limited to promoting a diverse and inclusive environment that is free from discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, sex, gender identity or disability in certain health programs and activities.
•Establish and implement appropriate governance and Civil Rights grievance procedures.
•Coordinate and oversee patient care services investigations for alleged discriminatory action, the written decision as a result of the investigation and grievance appeals
•Serve as an expert advisor on diversity and discrimination issues for Human Resources
•Provide guidance, education and training to staff on caring for diverse patient populations and diversity and inclusion values in the workplace
•Serve as an expert advisor and liaison between Lee Health leaders, clinicians, employees, physicians and volunteers to ensure that reasonable efforts are made to provide qualified interpretative services or other methods of communication with foreign language speaking, blind, visually impaired, deaf, or hard of hearing persons or any individual who needs interpretive services to understand or communicate his / her healthcare needs throughout Lee Health
•Develop system-wide diversity and interpretation service policies and procedures that meet regulatory and governmental requirements
•Responsible for hiring, orientating, training, scheduling and evaluating performance for staff interpreters
•Support the organization in continuing to understand differences and the richness diversity and inclusion brings to Lee Health
•Conducts ongoing organizational assessments and develop training programs in alignment with the organization’s strategy of health equity, population health management, healthy communities, compliance, culturally proficient workforce, corporate social responsibility and inclusive leadership
•5 years of diversity/ language services and supervisor/ management
•Must have previous supervisory experience and a comprehensive understanding of diversity/language service principles and practices
•Experience in providing interpretive services or education programs in a healthcare setting preferred.
