Performs semi-skilled to skilled duties in the performance of repairs, maintenance or construction. Performs painting related duties as an apprentice learning professional skills. Assists with mixing and applying various types of paints and stains. Assists in the general painting maintenance and repair of facility interior and exterior surfaces such as handrails, guardrails, drywall, metals, light poles, etc. Caulks concrete expansion joints in sidewalks and buildings. Performs other duties as assigned. JOB DUTIES:
45% - Essential - Painting and Preparation: Uses spray painting equipment, paint brushes, and rollers. Assists with mixing and applying all types of paints and stains. Prepares, covers, and sets up surfaces and items for priming and painting on interior & exterior surfaces.
40% - Essential - General and Special Painting Tasks: Performs painter tasks utilizing a semi-skilled to skilled degree of professional painter skills. Paints special areas in high profile areas such as President's home, Historical Structures, offices, labs, athletics, etc. Includes but not limited to, various metals, aluminum, cast iron, stainless steel, drywall, brick, block, plaster, athletic fields, etc. Caulk trim work and sidewalk/walls/steps control joints as needed. Operates equipment such as crawler lift boom & fork lift after complete training as required.
15% - Essential - Safety: Adheres to all Clemson University/Government regulations and trainings. Uses scaffolds and extension ladders safely for paint-related duties. Dispose of extra paint according to OSHA Standards. Be familiar with paint & materials SDS sheets. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment. RESPONSIBILITIES:
