CID has an immediate opening for a Finance Associate. Reporting to the Finance and Operations Manager, the successful candidate will perform a range of financial and administrative duties. The position will interact closely with CID's senior management, staff and research fellows, and hence must have excellent verbal communication, organizational skills and writing abilities.
The Finance Associate will provide a range of financial and administrative support to CID's Growth Lab and Building State Capabilities programs, serving as a liaison to faculty, fellows, and staff members. Under the direction of the Finance and Operations Manager, the Finance Associate will:
Verify vendor and corporate cards claims and/or internship payments against documentations to ensure that purchases/services are properly authorized and that goods have been received or services rendered; and ensure timely processing and payment of invoices and reimbursements;
Prepare necessary receipt and journal vouchers and ensure appropriate supporting documentation is maintained; Insure proper coding for funds and object codes;
Prepare special project budgets, in collaboration with the Financial Analyst, utilizing information provided by others and based on historical trends; monitor balances and conduct budget vs actual analysis;
Suggest, on an ongoing basis, improvements to CID financial and administrative processes and maintain relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs);
Coordinate travel arrangements by booking flights and hotels for national and international trips; ensure timely processing of travel reimbursements and serve as the focal point for
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and 2 or more years of demonstrated financial and administrative experience.
Proven ability to handle sensitive data with discretion, improve financial processes, and manage multiple tasks while maintaining excellent attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Understanding of Harvard University/Non-Profit Organization financial processes, chart of accounts, and supporting tools valuable; experience or interest in learning about sponsored research management; and interest in international economic development and developing countries.
Intermediate user of Excel. Successful candidate must be an independent worker, highly motivated, flexible and adaptable to change with strong organizational skills. Strong attention to detail; Excellent writing, communication and problem-solving skills; Demonstrated ability to manage regular and unexpected deadlines; Ability to independently manage time and demonstrate initiative; Proven ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, supervisors and stakeholders (including students, faculty, Central administration, etc.).
