POLICY MANAGER , Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)-Policy Group , to contribute to J-PAL's mission of promoting evidence-informed policy. The Policy Group plays a key role in translating research by J-PAL affiliates into actionable poverty alleviation policies around the world. Staff connect the dots between economics and policy and are passionate about working with organizations to inform development policy. Will act as a lead staff on one or more of J-PAL's sectors and manage one to two associate level staff within each sector; serve as primary liaison between J-PAL Global and one of J-PAL's regional offices; build relationships with partners in governments, NGOs, foundations, and multilateral aid agencies worldwide; create policy outreach materials; conduct research and analysis for policy memos, grant proposals, and sector-specific work; and provide project support.
REQUIRED : master's degree in economics, public policy, or closely related field, including coursework in microeconomics, econometrics, and development economics; at least five years' relevant work experience, including at least one year working in a developing country; successful track record of managing junior staff; comfort learning computer applications, including Salesforce; attention to detail and accuracy; advanced-level writing skills; understanding of how to communicate policy lessons from technical academic research in ways that policymakers/practitioners understand; strategic thinking skills; and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with little supervision, meet deadlines, and manage yours and others' time. The position is ideal for someone passionate about international development policy and the rigorous research that informs it and who enjoys managing others and working as part of a team.
