The Director of Capital & Risk Management Policy will be responsible for significantly influencing standards for risk management policy, including, but not limited to, capital treatment of cleared derivatives, governance, and financial safeguards. Direct risk management development for major project initiatives in Clearing, including innovative clearing service offerings, policy changes, rule changes, and regulatory responses reflective of new business initiates and proposed regulatory changes.
Develop innovative solutions to regulatory, risk management, and capital constraints facing CME and the markets it clears.
Manage relationships with regulatory bodies as they define CME's link to the financial system and importance in preserving financial stability. Continuously assess systemic risk related to clearing activities and CME's role preserving financial stability. Oversee the coordination of required plans for orderly liquidation and unwind associated with systemically important institutions.
Evaluate the potential impact of proposed regulatory changes to CME and our clients. Engage in analysis and integration of multiple sources of information to resolve issues and make decisions. Apply understanding of CME Group's customers, competitors, and industry issues to effective communication and presentations to clients and regulatory bodies. Educate and inform CME Group senior management about industry issues and developments affecting our business.
Work closely with other divisions across CME Group to lead implementation of new business initiatives and achieve business principles. Collaborate with other divisions to optimize the capital efficiency of CME's products, including evaluating new post-trade service offerings and opining on new product design. Apply in-depth knowledge, experience, and understanding to propose solutions to firm-wide problems.
Serve as an in-house subject matter expert and advisor to CME staff, the senior leadership team and the board of directors, as appropriate, regarding risk management policies, regulatory regimes, capital requirements for cleared derivatives.
Lead the team to ensure delivery of high quality results for high priority and time sensitive projects. Advise, coach, and mentor members of the Risk Management teams regarding risk management policy.
Advising and leading impact analysis of CME services, products and solutions on bank capital and leading related enterprise wide decision making on advocacy plans and client education.
Manage relationships with regulatory bodies as they define CME's link to the financial system and importance in preserving financial stability.
Advise, coach, and mentor members of the Risk Management teams regarding risk management policy team goals and initiatives.
Represent CME's interests and views on panels, roundtables and other external events.
Lead cross-functional projects focused on the implementation of innovative cost-saving solutions to CME's clients.
Provide support to CME Clearing leadership on a wide range of policy issues with particular focus on bank capital.
Skills and Software Requirements:
Expertise in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
Experience: 8+ years in financial services with a focus on bank capital, experience in cleared derivatives preferred.
