Assist the Dean in carrying out the university research mission by promoting the development of research and scholarly productivity of faculty and students. Assist with the mentoring of faculty researchers. Reports to the Dean, College of Aeronautics and Engineering.

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Work collaboratively with faculty, administrators and students in all research-related matters.
Work collaboratively with the College Research Committee on all research related programs, activities, and the development of recommendations of policies and procedures regarding research.
Act as a liaison to Research and Sponsored Programs, Graduate Studies and Technology Transfer. Assist faculty and students in the preparation of IRB proposals.
Provide support to facilitate research and scholarly productivity of faculty, students and contract professionals (e.g. statistical research design and methodology consultation services; manuscript preparation and editing assistance; assistance and resources in developing research or training grants, peer review of research proposals, etc.).
Secure and disseminate information regarding availability of federal and other grants for faculty and students.
Provide leadership within the university and college; builds and fosters internal and external linkages for collaborative work.
Contribute towards securing and maintaining resources for developing proposals, writing grants, identifying funding sources, implementing research and disseminating scholarly work.
Facilitate and promote interdisciplinary and inter-organizational research partnerships and strengthen existing research partnerships.
Provide needed informational technology to foster research communication.
Develop recommendations and/or revisions regarding the inclusion of research in the curriculum. Administer the expanding research endeavors throughout the College of Aeronautics and Engineering.
Provide direct supervision to unclassified staff.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Additional Examples of Duties – if applicable:
Doctorate degree in engineering or related field. Ten years' experience in building and managing a funded research program. Appointment includes faculty status in the College with rank and/or tenure eligibility to be determined based on the candidate's academic credentials.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
Light work-Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Incumbent must be able to communicate with others. Incumbent may be required to travel from building to building frequently and off campus occasionally.
