Saint Louis University a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, healthcare, and service seeks dynamic, collegial, collaborative, and creative applicants for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the Department of Aviation Science in Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology starting in the Fall of 2019. We seek faculty who strive to provide engaging, high-quality teaching and mentoring to undergraduate and graduate students in a team-oriented, student-focused environment. The Department of Aviation Science currently consists of four full-time faculty members who offer both undergraduate and graduate degree programs to approximately 130 undergraduate students majoring in Aeronautics and 30 graduate students enrolled in our Master's and PhD programs in Aviation. Appointments are targeted for the assistant professor level; however, candidates with exceptional qualifications will be considered for appointment at a higher level.
Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the department's curricula;
Conduct externally-funded research and, where possible, collaborate with other academic units at Saint Louis University and other external organizations;
Serve on University and College committees;
Perform student mentoring;
Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion and transformational education.
An earned bachelor's degree in aviation and a doctoral degree in aviation, education or a closely related field.
Federal Aviation Administration certificates and ratings commensurate with teaching and research assignments.
A record of, or interest in, academic teaching and curriculum development.
A record of, or interest in, scholarly publications, and/or conference presentations.
Parks College of Engineering, Aviation and Technology, founded in 1927, became an integral part of Saint Louis University in 1994. The college offers academic programs of excellence that integrate the education of the whole person with classroom and hands-on experience in the major field of study. Laboratory coursework and undergraduate research are hallmarks of the student learning experience at Saint Louis University. The college offers ABET accredited bachelor's degree programs in Aerospace, Biomedical, Civil, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Physics, and an AABI accredited program in Aeronautics with concentrations in Aviation Management and Flight Science. M.S. and Ph.D. programs in engineering and aviation are also offered.
