Portland State University seeks a visionary, passionate and entrepreneurial Presidential Liaison for Global Partnerships who will support the President's goals for global programs. The Presidential Liaison will have extensive experiences working overseas, either in academic or non-academic organizations, and is proficient in at least one other language. The Liaison will have management and administrative experiences. A successful Liaison will be able to leverage the opportunities that exist across the academic units, the international affairs staff, and the external community.
The Liaison reports directly to the President. The Liaison works with faculty and administrators to develop international activities and enrollment opportunities that are consistent with the university's mission and that foster the preparation of students and faculty for the increasingly global nature of contemporary life.
Successfully advancing the University's global mission requires that the Liaison work closely and collaboratively with the President and senior administrators in the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Enrollment Management, the Office of International Affairs, the International Admissions Office, the Office of Research and Graduate Studies, the Office of University Relations, the Alumni Affairs Office, and the International Studies program. The Liaison works with the Vice President for Global Diversity and Inclusion to promote a campus climate that is inviting and supportive of international faculty, students, and staff.
-Bachelor’s degree in a related field -Three or more years of relevant administrative experience in international affairs, exchanges and partnerships, commitment to international students and faculty, and understanding the objectives and goals of the internationalization initiative -Demonstrated success organizing and developing events and partnerships with global communities and diplomatic circles -Experience collaborating with senior level officials from other governments and/or foreign universities -Excellent written and oral communication skills in English Proficiency in a second language is required
-Knowledge of diplomatic and international affairs, regulations and laws affecting the functions performed by the Office of International Affairs and the Office of International Studies is preferred.
-Master’s degree in a related field.
