The Internal Auditor 1 performs financial, operational, and compliance audits, in conjunction with other auditors or auditing standards and performs independently, in accordance with internal investigative and advisory services under the direction of a supervisor. University Audit and Consulting Services (UACS) provide independent, objective audit and advisory services designed to add value and improve the operations of Wright State University. UACS helps the University accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes. The Internal Auditor 1 performs financial, operational and compliance audits in conjunction with other auditors or independently, in accordance with internal auditing standards and performs investigative and advisory services under the direction of a supervisor.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, accounting, information technology or other related field.
Holds professional certification in at least one of the following (CIA, CPA, CFE, CISA or equivalent).
Minimum two years of auditing experience.
Demonstrated ability using computers for word processing and spreadsheet development. Be able to analyze records, systems, and processes.
Demonstrated ability to plan, research and conduct audits and able to develop logical conclusions from information reviewed.
Possess effective technical writing and oral communication skills to clearly document the nature, timing, extent, and results of audit procedures.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Be able to work successfully both independently and in teams.
Be able to work successfully with faculty, staff, and students in a diplomatic manner while representing the office and university in a professional and courteous manner.
Auditing experience across multiple industries
Working experience with ACL.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
Develops or assists with the preparation of plans for financial, operational and compliance audits. 10%
Conducts analyses, meets with university personnel, examines documents and records to execute plans and accurately interprets results against defined criteria. 30%
Documents plans, procedures and results in work papers in a logical manner. 10%
Applies internal control concepts in a wide variety of university settings and appropriately assesses the exposures resulting from ineffective or missing control practices. 10%
Understands financial, operational and compliance risks that affect university. 10%
Interprets and evaluates compliance with applicable federal, state and university laws, regulations, and policies. 5%
Communicates observations, recommendations and other results to management through written reports and orally. 15%
Assists with investigative or advisory services as assigned. 5%
Performs administrative and other duties assigned. 5%
