The Human Resources Advisor role will work in a HR team of 20, based in Singapore and reports into Senior Human Resources Advisor.
The role covers the Singapore and South East Asia Wholesale divisions (Global Markets and Investment Banking). This role works very closely with respective business heads, divisional HRAs and HR Specialist teams to deliver an exceptional level of service to the Nomura business.
South East Asia coverage consist mainly Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia with Philippines and Vietnam as Representative Offices with a total number of 670 employees. The number of employees covered under this HR Advisor role circa 270. The HR Advisor role works across a spectrum of responsibilities including Employee Relations, Recruiting, Compensation & Benefits, on boarding and off boarding processes (in addition to day to day employee enquiries).
As a pro-active and results-driven HR Advisor, the successful candidate will deliver on the objective of working with clients on HR issues and advising and implementing best HR practice consistent with Firm policy and with the strategy of the business. The successful candidate must be able to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Work with senior HRA to drive HR initiatives for business division
Work closely with business managers, understanding the business, its needs and leveraging the understanding for HR delivery and guide them to resolve HR issues
Act as advisor to line managers on all human resources matters and provide human resources expertise in implementing business initiatives including performance management, compensation practices, training needs, new hire process, on-boarding, and Firm policies and procedures
Manage human resources processes and programs to ensure accurate, timely, and consistent delivery to clients (e.g., new hire process, leaves of absence, exit interviews, work visas, etc.)
Act as advisor and coach on change management, supporting a positive working environment and all employee relations matters (e.g., employee grievances, progressive discipline, exit strategies, etc.)
Counsel employees on various issues (e.g., grievances, performance, training and development, advancement, policies and procedures) while maintaining employer advocacy role
Consult with specialist team on pre-employment, deferred compensation buyouts, relocations, work visas, benefits, etc. to ensure a smooth on-boarding experience for all new hires/transfers including post-hire follow up
Partner with other HR Advisors to foster teamwork and a positive work environment through frequent collaboration and sharing of best practices
Oversee and participate in HR projects which involve change of existing HR policies and processes in line with local legal and statutory requirements
Key Experience & Skills
7-10 plus years of human resources experience with client coverage, including experience consulting with senior managers in a fast-paced, demanding and rapidly changing environment
Financial service experience is preferred
Strong technical human resources expertise, including compensation, employee relations and staffing
Strong South East Asia local market and statutory knowledge preferred
Ability to work independently with excellent communication skills and the ability to frame problems and solutions quickly and concisely
Must be detail-oriented and also able to juggle multiple priorities and competing deadlines
Effective at building relationships with business leaders and employees and able to accomplish his/her objectives through influence and persuasion
A problem-solver, able to think strategically while possessing the knowledge and intelligence to quickly solve day-to-day human resources issues. S/he should possess the judgment and maturity to balance the interests of the division with the overall goals and values of Nomura
