Perform duties to make repairs or adjustments to power delivery services for customer accounts and to assist with collection of delinquent accounts.
Respond to outage calls and get customer’s power restored.
Check line feed and fuse condition.
Determine cause for the outage.
Determine if additional resources or personnel assistance will be required to make repairs. Call for whatever assistance may be required.
Make repairs or replace components to restore power to the account.
Prepare records and reports for repairs and other work completed.
Ensure that connects and disconnects are completed and recorded. Check service for proper voltage.
Monitor distribution system for potential service problems.
Respond to service calls to conduct installation inspections of polyphase and single-phase metering for faults, bad current/potential transformers, broken or loose wires, and other related problems.
Observe lines for presence of hazardous conditions, transformer overload conditions, or problems that could cause a power failure. Notify customer of improper or unsafe condition. Immediately report such conditions to the immediate supervisor.
Inspect and test underground and overhead lines and equipment.
Locate underground lines to avoid damage from any work crew that may be digging in the area of the underground facilities.
Make calls on customers to collect delinquent payments and to make connection connects/disconnects.
Conduct collections, payment extensions, or service disconnections according to Cooperative procedures.
Identify problem collections and inform immediate supervisor of problem.
Follow the Cooperative’s safety rules, standards, and procedures.
Know and comply with the Cooperative’s safety regulations.
Maintain current American Red Cross Standard First Aid and Adult CPR certifications.
Know and comply with traffic laws and regulations, federal motor carrier regulations, and state DOT/Public Service Commission regulations.
Ensure that assigned trucks and equipment are operated safely in accordance with government and the Cooperative’s safety rules and regulations.
Ensure that assigned vehicles, tools and equipment are in good, safe working condition and properly maintained. Promptly report any vehicle, tool or equipment that needs repair to the immediate supervisor.
Use radio equipment for communications in the correct manner according to regulations.
Maintain a valid North Carolina commercial driver’s license and DOT certification.
Detect faulty operations or materials and report all unusual conditions to supervisor.
Be available to independently respond for emergency service calls.
Follow safety procedures and keep work area clean and orderly.
Perform other similar or related duties as assigned.
Regular physical effort required to pull wires, climb, operate equipment and perform other line duties.

*There are two positions available. One position will be filled for our Supply (Headquarters) Operations and one will be filled for our Oak Island District office. Selected applicants will need to live within 30 minutes of the location they are required to report.
