Department Overview :
The Mass Affluent business within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management includes the Client Advisory Center ("CAC") and Self-Directed branches in two call centers, located in Phoenix, AZ and Tampa, FL. CAC & Self-Directed employees span a number of different roles including Financial Advisors, Client Service & Operations. The Operational Risk Associate will be part of the CAC Operational Risk Team, located in New York, NY.
Role Responsibilities :
This role is expected to support the establishment and oversight of risk governance and culture within the CAC. A proactive approach will enable the CAC to achieve strategic objectives, promote efficiency, reduce the risk of loss, and ensure compliance with policies, procedures and regulation.
The CAC Operational Risk Analyst's responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Establish Key Risk Indicators and Risk Metrics
Partner across multiple teams to craft and maintain library of KRIs and risk metrics
Perform entitlement role reviews as well as other Infrastructure/Information Security Risk related reviews
Manage/ Assist in Wealth Management's Supplier Management Program (Vendor Risks)
Perform control/risk identification, ratings and rationales for Risk & Control Self-Assessment
Identify and monitor risk issues, actions, and incidents
Contribute to Risk Governance Committee and Risk Champions sessions
Advance governance framework and culture matters through research and presentation
Develop and manage relationships with CAC leadership and key business partners'
Remain current on knowledge of rules and regulations impacting our business and work with leadership to ensure CAC practices remain compliant
Research and understand the business' top operational risks and work with leadership to enhance controls
Assist in the preparation and management for upcoming internal/external reviews and exams
Ability to travel as necessary
3-5 years of experience in Operational Risk
5-7 years of professional work experience, preferably in Financial Services
Knowledge of the Morgan Stanley systems and infrastructure, a plus
Business unit Information Security risk knowledge, a plus
Strong understanding of risk governance frameworks and oversight
Risk and Control Self-Assessment experience
Proficient in creating, publishing, and identifying gaps in Policies, Procedures, and References
Ability to establish governance and protocols for risk oversight and monitoring
Experience in the development of ideas and concepts through framework implementation
Understand Key Risk Indicators and Metrics from ideation to threshold, action, and impact.
Demonstrate leadership skills within a team environment
Must be a flexible, self-driven, team player who can be effective working with ambiguity
Required to be innovative, creative, and have the ability to adapt to a fast paced environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with advanced Word and Excel skills
Extremely organized with high level of attention to detail
