Associate Director of Alumni Relations - McDonough School of Business
T he Associate Director of Alumni Relations will develop and execute a strategy for alumni relations at the McDonough School of Business. Responsibilities will include planning and execution of alumni events and communications, coordination with colleagues at the school to engage alumni for both the benefit of the alumni and the school's programs and initiatives. This coordination includes identifying alumni to assist with student recruitment and career management, to serve as speakers at events and in the classroom, to serve on boards at the school, and for philanthropic giving. This position supervises the Alumni Relations Program Manager and student staff. Reporting to the Associate Dean and Chief Marketing Officer. The Associate Director for Alumni Relations has duties that include but are not limited to:
Coordinates the Alumni Ambassadors Program and events hosted by alumni around the world.
Signature alumni events at the school under the management of this position include Graduate Reunion Weekend, Undergraduate Reunion activities, the Global Summit, the school's participation in the University's John Carroll Weekend and International Alumni Weekend, as well as alumni events in cities around the world—either planned and executed or promoted by the school's Office of Alumni Relations.
Responsible for management of the school's alumni data and ensuring the accuracy of the data and proper use by colleagues at the school.
Alumni Data Stewardship
Serves as the steward of alumni data in Salesforce at the school to help ensure the accuracy of the data, updates are made in a timely manner, and assist other department with access to alumni data.
Alumni engagement with Programs & Initiatives
Works closely with the schools programs and initiatives to foster alumni engagement for the benefit of the alumni and the school's needs, including student recruitment, career management, and fundraising.
Alumni Engagement and Events
Develops and executes a plan for alumni events on and off campus.
Recruits and guides the Graduate Reunion Committee each year.
Recruits and guides the Alumni Ambassadors for the school.
Prepares background and briefing documents for CMO and Deans for alumni events.
Markets and promotes Alumni Club events around the world.
Develops and implements a communications strategy for alumni, in collaboration with the Office of Marketing and Communications. Communications may include website content, emails, enewsletter, surveys, event invites, and other forms of outreach. Works with the Alumni Relations Program Manager in creating messages, enewsletter content (including articles), downloading/uploading photos and videos, and writing web content.
Coordinates with the University's alumni association to ensure the appropriate presence of the School on the university's web sites.
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in alumni relations and external affairs with demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with volunteers and developing volunteer leadership
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, together with the ability to work collaboratively and courteously with colleagues throughout the organization, including alumni, other constituents and the public
Must have flexibility and initiative, as well as the ability to work independently
Individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office software, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office software
