The Colorado Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Colorado) is seeking a visionary highly motivated, and transformative leader for their Executive Vice President/CEO position located in our downtown Denver, CO office. This individual and working with our Board of Directors is responsible for the overall strategic operation, management and administrative affairs of AIA Colorado ultimately providing various services, programs and advocacy to their 2400 plus Colorado members. We are looking for someone that has the following background and experiences to serve as the top paid executive and administrative officer.
Requires at least a bachelor’s degree preferably in business administration, association/non-profit management or public administration. Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential is preferred.
At least 5 years of experience at an association in an executive leadership role; including demonstrated track record of optimizing resources, revenue generation and budget oversight (+$1 million in assets).
Experience in association governance, board development, strategic prioritization and policy development to support the organization and its membership.
A proven record of working with volunteers and committees, building a foundation that inspires participation, engages members at all levels of their careers and leads to desired results
Experienced in public speaking, writing/editing, government affairs and public relations.
Experience leading results-oriented staff team; cultivating positive, rewarding and sustained performance among employees. (Current staff of 5 plus EVP/CEO)
Scope of Work
Plans and implements programs and activities in line with mission, strategic direction and annual goals/work plan as approved by the Board of Directors.
Establishes and enhances relationships across the organization, with members of the AIA Colorado Board of Directors, committee and task force members and volunteer leaders across four geographically defined “sections.” Represents the collective interests of members of Colorado at business meetings of the national organization and AIA Western Mountain Region.
Works closely with various state and local administrative and regulatory agencies, members of the Colorado Legislature, the AIA Colorado Government Affairs Committee and contract lobbyist.
Responds to written and verbal inquiries regarding profession and AIA Colorado articulating the value of architecture and design to the public and allied industries; acts as a spokesperson for AIA Colorado; gives presentations to civic and allied organizations on AIA Colorado programs and activities.
Works closely with the Board of Directors to recommend and lead change management efforts in response to identified trends of the discipline and governance trends in association management.
