Winona State University invites you to join our Community of Learners as our International Student Advisor/SEVIS Compliance Specialist. This position (1) develops and implements processes to ensure compliance with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) regulations; (2) interprets F-1 and J-1 visa regulations to ensure compliance; (3) provides counseling and advising support to international students and scholars on immigration and other ancillary matters; (4) serves as the Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO); (5) serves as the liaison with government agencies, including the Student and Exchange Visitor program (SEVP), U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and U.S. Department of State; (6) coordinates the application process and course enrollment for incoming visiting and exchange students and monitor their progress; and (7) works with other staff in the Center for Global Education to deepen the culture of global engagement at the University.
Minimum qualifications for this position are a Master’s degree in a relevant field and at least two (2) years of experience in Program administration in an international education office working with international students, and with direct experience of the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) OR a Bachelor’s degree will be considered provided the candidate has at least five (5) years of experience as a DSO or PDSO in U.S. higher education.
