Founded to encourage deep and long term thought leadership, the ASI Research Institute's (ASIRI) work complements asset price valuation frameworks and investment decisions, covering forecasts scenario analysis and fundamental research at the intersection of economics, politics, policy and markets.
ASIRI's research programme has six core streams:
Inflation, earnings and the business cycle;
Money, banking and credit;
Long-term growth and structural analysis;
Behavioural, quantitative and methodological frontiers;
Politics, policy and ESG; and
Long-term thematics and changing investment horizons.
The Senior Research Economist conducts high level, primary research and analysis relating to global economic, policy, political and market themes. They will contribute to the dissemination of high quality, influential research and analytical insights through a variety of publications and forums.
Additionally, the Senior Research Economist will engage with and influence a variety of internal and external stakeholders to help develop investment ideas, arrive at the best possible investment decisions, and raise the external profile of ASI.
Undertake deep, fundamental and original research relating to one or more of ASIRI's research streams.
Lead the outreach with government officials, academics, and international financial institutions relating to one or more of ASIRI's research streams.
Contribute papers, articles and other pieces of written work for ASIRI's suite of internal and external publications.
Clearly and concisely communicate ASIRI's research and analytical insights to media and clients, through interviews, presentations and other means.
Proactively engage with colleagues in investment debates to develop ideas and help arrive at the best possible investment decisions.
Manage a junior colleague within ASIRI.
Act under the principles of Treating Customer Fairly and abide by all regulatory requirements; managing conflicts and risk, reporting errors on a timely basis.

Skills & Experience:
Extensive experience in a senior economics or policy role, including the regular use of econometric models to produce research, insights and advice.
Ability to deliver original, impactful research and analytical insights through a range of publications, forums and media, adapted to different internal and external audiences.
Strong team-playing skills, enabling effective relationships within an international research team and other teams across ASI.
Ability to work in a collaborative manner with minimal direct supervision, as well as act on the behalf of the Chief Economist.
Excellent quantitative skills, including experience with a range of statistical tools and methods, as well as the ability to use them in original empirical work.
Knowledge and understanding of academic research in relevant topics, as well as the ability to engage with and collaborate with academics and policymakers at a high level.
Knowledge of investment processes and financial markets preferred, as well as the ability to understand the interaction between economics and financial markets.
Ability to communicate effectively with the media and deliver thematic presentations to a range of clients in different countries.
Experience supervising the work and career development of more junior staff.
Ability to work within a complex business environment and gain the support and confidence of a wide variety of people
Have the awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which the firm operates as well as its regulatory requirements, while acting in an ethical manner with adherence to relevant rules and regulations
Knowledge of TCF requirements and responsibilities
A Master's degree or PhD in Economics or a related discipline, with a substantial research component.
