TRANSPLANT INTAKE COORDINATOR at Methodist Health System
This position is located at the Dallas Transplant Institute in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico
Your Job: The Transplant Intake Coordinator services as the primary contact for referrals and patients and is responsible for initiating the patient's transplant record in the electronic medical record system. In addition, the coordinator supports the daily operations of the department.
Your Job Requirements:
Associate's degree required from an accredited college, Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum of three years of experience in a healthcare office setting
Knowledge of medical terminology
Above average word processing skills with 60 wpm typing ability with working knowledge of MS Office
Bilingual skills required (Spanish and English)
Your Job Responsibilities:
Receiving and logging all patient referral information into the electronic medical record.
Obtaining all materials necessary for initial evaluation, including outside imaging reports, pathology reports, operative reports, medical records, etc., and ensuring that all materials have been reviewed and received as appropriate by the clinical team prior to the initial patient appointment.
Serves as the liaison between potential transplant patients, referring physicians, dialysis centers, insurance providers and case managers, transplant surgeons and physicians, and transplant coordinators.
Mails out the new patient packet to the patient with all information for transplant along with forms that may need to be signed by the patient.
Collecting registration information such as patient's demographics, insurance cards, 2728, photo I.D., PCP, referring MD for new patients to be entered into the electronic medical record and working with the schedulers to coordinate ancillary appointments for patients before and/or after their first visit.
Greets patients coming into the department. Conducts face-to-face or telephone interview with patients to obtain all required registration data.
Handles incoming phone calls by resolving problems or directing calls to the appropriate staff.
Perform any and all other administrative responsibilities as assigned including, but not limited to, maintaining and ordering office supplies, collecting and delivering mail, arranging department meetings, and communicating and interacting with other departments. Proving administrative support to transplant directors, managers, and outreach coordinator.
