We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a PD-Parent Educator.
In this role, the successful candidate Accountability: Provides formalized instruction to expecting couples according to curriculum outline of Prepared Childbirth Cours. Responsible to: Manager Perinatal Support Services
Position will involve mostly teaching at NYU Brooklyn Hospital with occasional floating to NYU Tisch Medical Center in Manhattan.
Responsible for teaching parent education classes to expectant parents according to NYULMCs curriculum for Prepared Childbirth which is based on Lamazes Six Healthy Care Practices and the Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding.
Demonstrates sound clinical knowledge of labor/delivery/postpartum process and procedures according to NYULMC OB service.
Available one-half hour each before and after class to answer participants' questions. Responsible for setting up class, properly using equipment and returning all equipment to proper location.
Responsible for providing replacement instructor for class in the event of an illness or emergency preventing instructor from conducting class. Notifies Office Coordinator of expected absence and replacement a minimum of six hours before time of scheduled class.
Provides input into evaluation and revision of Childbirth Education Program based on feedback from participants and evidence-based practices.
Performs other duties as assigned.
To qualify you must have Education: Baccalaureate degree or BS in Nursing required; certification in Prepared Childbirth.Competence: Hospital experience in Obstetrics (labor and delivery, post partum) required
Lamaze Certification preferred
