The City of Iowa City Recreation division is accepting applications for positions within the Customer Service Program. Hourly Customer Service Program staff assignments may include the following:
Weekend Facility Supervisor
$15.00 per hour
Definition of Work: Employee will perform a variety of duties to ensure all patrons have a positive experience utilizing recreational facility for open play, special events and reservation. Duties include but not limited to: greet and check in all patrons who enter the facility, enforce facility policies, rules and regulations, maintain a clean and neat appearance of the facility, conduct facility safety checks every 30 minutes, attend to needs of rental groups and birthday parties, complete incident and accident reports thoroughly and in a timely manner, resolve patron complaints and conduct evening reports and records. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age or older. Previous experience working in customer service and in a supervisorial capacity required. CPR/First Aid/AED Certified preferred. Ability to interact and engage with diverse user groups and enforce facility and department policies, rules, and expectations. Must be able to provide transportation. Must pass criminal background check.
Hours of Operation: Saturdays, 10:00am -6:00pm and Sundays, 12:00pm – 6:00pm
Customer Service Attendant
$10.50 per hour
Definition of Work: Provides information and customer service to general public—groups and individuals. Answers phone and directs calls. Registers patrons for activities, makes room and park shelter reservations. Performs some routine maintenance tasks. Hands out equipment, instructs and supervises patrons in the large recreation center. Types, files and performs other various office duties. Ability to manage and supervise facility activities and users. Effectively communicates general information and enforces policies and procedures. Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace and community. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Previous office experience and typing skills required. Previous experience working with general public required. Need to provide own transportation as position will require working at Robert A. Lee Community Recreation Center and/or Mercer Park Aquatic Center/Scanlon Gymnasium. Must pass criminal background check.
Hours of Operation: Varied schedule including mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends during public hours of operation
