Strategic and Annual Planning: In collaboration with his/her supervisor, and other senior Law administrators, uses institutional knowledge and awareness of constituency perception to determine long-range and annual program goals, and to build and implement a best-in-class, strategic and tactical plan to increase alumni engagement with the School of Law.
Alumni Activities, Events, Programming, and Services: Designs, leads, oversees and evaluates external relations event activities, events, programs and services; develops new programs, services and volunteer opportunities to deepen and broaden alumni engagement with students, faculty, staff, and fellow graduates.
Alumni/Volunteer Engagement and Management: Manages the Berkeley Law Alumni Association board and works with other alumni volunteers including class reunion and regional club volunteers,
Quickly and appropriately identifies, addresses, and mitigates unforeseen and/or rapidly unfolding events that may negatively impact relationships between the School of Law and various constituencies, keeping the Senior Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Relations appropriately advised and notified.
Trains, supervises, and evaluates the work of assigned alumni engagement staff members, support staff and/or other professionals.
Responds to constituent inquiries and/or oversees responses to constituent inquiries.
Resource Management: Manages financial resources allocated to the alumni engagement program.
Develops and maintains data and reports providing basic analysis of program trends, and short and long range results utilizing appropriate software. May conduct surveys and make recommendations to senior administrators.
Advanced knowledge of the School of Law, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements, issues of concern and infrastructure.
Thorough working knowledge and understanding of alumni relations and public relations concepts, principles, techniques, procedures and practices, including the ability to recognize engagement opportunities and identify critical, high-reward activities.
Advanced knowledge of the legal profession.
Advanced knowledge of practices and procedures associated with building and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of internal and external constituencies, including the ability to work cooperatively to achieve common goals; support coordination, collaboration and sharing of information.
Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including skill to produce information that is appropriately presented and effectively received by target constituencies.
Active listening skills, including advanced critical thinking and analytical skills, and political acumen. Ability to listen carefully and to understand customer needs, both internally and externally, and proactively respond to those needs in a consistent and timely manner.
Skill to recognize potential areas of constituency concern and address, resolve and/or mitigate problems or issues.
Advanced project management skills, including skills to plan and implement successful events.
Ability to provide direction and motivation to others through communication, modeling appropriate behavior, optimism and high achievement.
Experience as a supervisor or manager preferred.
Openness to new ideas and their implementation. Ability to continuously upgrade standards to maintain quality and react and adapt easily to new approaches and changing situations.
Understanding of database management (e.g. CADS), gift processing and donor relations.
Strong skills in persuasion/negotiation and marketing.
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
Advanced knowledge of issues of concern in higher education, particularly among national law schools
J.D. degree and/or equivalent experience/training
