Provide leadership, administrative management, and supervision to faculty and classified staff for multiple academic programs/disciplines including but not limited to: Social & Behavioral Sciences, Health & PE and Communication.
Develop and continually improve academic programming.
Manage resources and personnel effectively to meet program outcomes.
Responsible for working with other college personnel to provide college-wide leadership in developing and achieving the college's strategic priorities.
Participate on college and system committees and task forces, and leading college initiatives.
Engagement with other educational institutions, community organizations, legislative governing bodies, and other external stakeholders to meet the college mission.
Minimum of two (2) years' experience as an Associate Dean, Department Chair, or other equivalent leadership experience within higher education.
Experience working in a shared governance, participatory management environment.
Ability to evaluate programs, develop policies, make changes and recommendations in terms of acceptable program standards, and implement changes and/or new programs.
An understanding of the collective bargaining process and skill in employment contract administration.
Teaching experience and understanding community college structure, students, including the community served; e.g., curriculum, technology, management.
Knowledge of principles and practices of administration sufficient to plan, prioritize, and coordinate tasks, meet deadlines, manage multiple demands simultaneously and assign/review work of others.
An understanding and appreciation of classroom and lab teaching methods, skills, and issues along with an understanding of an array of academic areas/programs and related issues.
Demonstrated ability to work with students and employees in a diverse instructional setting.
3-5 years of experience at the Dean level or higher. A background familiar with the challenges relating to the discipline areas is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Minnesota State policies, procedures, and organizational structure and activities.
