Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions, the incumbent is responsible for the evaluation and analysis of academic records and an array of personal information from individuals applying for undergraduate admission to the University of California. The incumbent will interpret and apply a wide variety of complex faculty-approved policies to determine an applicant's UC eligibility, an appropriate holistic assessment, if an applicant has met the UC Santa Cruz selection criteria to be admitted to the campus, and other Academic Senate policies that govern admission and graduation at UC Santa Cruz. Counsel and advise prospective students, applicants, and other populations seeking information regarding undergraduate admissions.
The Office of Admissions at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is dedicated to providing service to prospective, new, and continuing students pursuing an undergraduate education. In carrying out our mission, we promote the campus and its programs to prospective students and their representatives, as well as the public at large; we admit and enroll students that reflect the values and commitment of the campus faculty and administration, and we ensure those students a smooth transition to the start of their academic careers at UCSC; we assist continuing UCSC students in the timely completion of their degrees.
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
Ability to interpret policies and procedures to prospective applicants and the public.
Ability to maintain cooperative relationships with schools, universities, community organizations and other institutions.
Working knowledge of academic programs at colleges / universities, including curricula, admissions requirements, and financial aid programs.
The position requires working occasional nights / weekends and traveling to and from schools / community colleges and meeting locations with overnight stays as needed. During the months of January through March, staff requests for vacation will not be approved in order to complete the review and selection of the freshman and transfer class.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.
