The Manager of Compensation administers all aspects of salary administration for the university. Responsibilities include: developing, and guiding department administrators in the development of, exempt and nonexempt position descriptions; management of position description files for the university; analysis and evaluation of exempt and nonexempt positions; participating in salary surveys; conducting extensive and complex salary data analyses; advising university senior administration and management on compensation related issues; developing and updating salary range tables; and assuring compliance with state and federal compensation regulations. Additional responsibilities include preparation and filing of various compliance reports, participation in the sponsorship process for H-1B visas and permanent residency, assuring compliance with labor law posting requirements, and administration of the performance appraisal process. The incumbent also counsels campus management on general Human Resources issues, answering questions and resolving problems, and serving as a Human Resources liaison for campus management and employees. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources.
1.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in human resources management or related field.
2.A minimum of 3 years management level experience in human resources, preferably in salary administration.
3.A minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience in salary administration. Additional Human Resource experience in affirmative action and other compliance reporting, work visa sponsorship, and/or performance appraisal, desirable.
4.Computer proficiency for word processing, spreadsheet, database and web applications. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) required.
5.Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing wage and salary administration issues.
6.Excellent analytical skills and figure aptitude, and creative problem solving skills.
7.Strong human relations and oral and written communications skills.
8.Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
9.Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
