Working Title: Assistant Chancellor for University Advancement/Chief Advancement Officer

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is seeking an experienced and committed leader to serve as Assistant Chancellor for University Advancement/Chief Advancement Officer. Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Assistant Chancellor serves on the Chancellor's Cabinet and has administrative and budgetary authority over the university's advancement program comprised of fundraising, stewardship and alumni relations functions. The position provides leadership to an advancement team of eight and works closely with a highly effective, separate 501(c )3 institutionally-affiliated Foundation, as well as a large number of motivated volunteers.
The Assistant Chancellor collaborates with the Chancellor and other leaders to envision and implement the university's alumni engagement and philanthropic initiatives – building on the momentum of the institution's first ever comprehensive campaign completed in 2016 which reached its $20 million goal. The individual will lead fundraising efforts that focus on supporting strategic priorities such as student scholarships, study abroad opportunities, support for faculty and innovative programs, as well as critical capital and building projects on campus.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the UW-River Falls mission to help prepare students to be productive, creative, ethical, engaged citizens and leaders with an informed global perspective, and will champion the UWRF core values of being student-centered with a focus on academic excellence, inclusiveness, innovation, global engagement and integrity.
The Assistant Chancellor works with senior administrative leaders to advance the mission and strategic goals of UW-River Falls. Under the direction of the Chancellor, the Assistant Chancellor develops and executes engagement and fundraising plans for the university's advancement program, including annual gifts, major gifts, corporate and foundation gifts, planned giving, donor relations, alumni relations, as well as research and prospect management – including designing and implementing ongoing and future campaigns.
River Falls is one of the most rapidly growing dynamic regions of Wisconsin, combining proximity to a major metropolitan area with small town living.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Five years senior-level leadership experience in one or more successful organizations in which external relationships, partnerships, and effective stewardship are central to mission.
Significant experience in supervising personnel, managing budget, and strategic planning.
Demonstrated success in resource development in university, non-profit or private sector setting.
Demonstrated understanding of principles of charitable giving and non-profit management.
Excellent communication skills, the ability to write and speak clearly and effectively, and the ability to build relationships and rapport with a wide range of individuals.
Ability to inspire confidence from diverse internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to articulate the values of higher education and importance of charitable support.
Strong work ethic and willingness to travel and participate in evening and weekend events and activities.
Advanced degree from an accredited institution.
Seasoned advancement professional with a proven track record of asking for and securing major/leadership contributions.
Leadership experience managing a successful advancement operation in a university or non-profit setting.
