Job Description Accountability Statement:
This role is a key member of the General Account Portfolio Management function in Asia, which is responsible for the management and oversight of total AUM of nearly US$60 billion, covering a broad range of asset classes including public and private debt, public and private equities, as well as other alternative investments.
The senior trader works closely with portfolio managers and other traders located in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo as a member of an integrated team in the management of Manulife's on-balance sheet investments in Asia. The incumbent creates value through the provision of market insights and trade ideas to portfolio managers, implementation of new derivative strategies to support investment needs and continuous business growth, and best execution of derivative and fixed income transactions.
Gather and analyse market data, generate market insights and trade ideas, and proactively contribute to portfolio management and asset allocation decisions.
Devise and implement derivative-related solutions as appropriate to support new investment strategies and to cope with changes in market and/or regulatory environment
Execute trades in derivatives (rates, FX, equity futures), government bonds, and public corporate bonds.
Build and maintain strong relationships with Portfolio Management and Corporate Finance colleagues and sell side counterparties.
Liaise with Investment Operations, Compliance and other areas to ensure smooth operations
Provide other investment-related support to the portfolio management team as directed by the Head of Investments, Hong Kong and Southeast Asia.
Ten years of experience in public fixed income and derivative trading
Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Demonstrated self-starter and team player
Ability to work steadfastly, flexibly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
University degree in a quantitative discipline
CFA or other related professional designation
SFC Type 1 and Type 2 Licensed Representative
