The University of Missouri-Kansas City Innovation Center partners with the university and the community to spark entrepreneurial efforts within the region and across the country. With a suite of high-impact programs, the Innovation Center helps emerging and existing business owners (student, faculty or community-based) hone their business basics, evaluate commercialization opportunities and connect with the right resources at the right time.
The key responsibility of this position is to ensure approximately 50 events associated with UMKC Innovation Center run smoothly and to the standards of individual program and grant requirements.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Understanding of event goals and objectives
Event preparation to include: identification, negotiation and contracts associated with venue and catering; attendee invitations, RSVPs and inquiry; handouts, names tags, a/v and room set up
Event tracking and follow up: attendance, satisfaction and follow up results/outcomes
Some event attendance required to include attendee check-in, meeting notes and follow up reports
Monitor the database, data entry and report analysis
A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be required is necessary, as well as five years progressively responsible office experience. Education or training beyond high school may be substituted for experience.
We're looking for someone with solid administrative and project management skills across various channels who has:
Experience successfully handling multiple competing projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment, with little direct supervision
Ability to learn and use database programs, input and update records
Demonstrated event management
Attention to detail
Understanding of web enabled conferencing technology, such as Join.me or WebX
Ability to schedule meetings through various technologies
Proficient computer skills and ability to learn new technology
Ability to multitask and prioritize
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Familiarity with MailChimp, WordPress, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop), JoinMe or similar webinar program
Bilingual a plus
