MANAGER, IDEA INITIATIVE , Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) , to join a global research center working to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence. Anchored by a network of 165 affiliated professors at universities around the world, J-PAL conducts randomized impact evaluations to answer critical questions in the fight against poverty. Will lead the technical team for J-PAL's new Innovations in Data, Experiments, and Action (IDEA) Initiative. The IDEA Initiative will be housed within the Research, Education, and Training (RET) vertical and will support researchers and policy makers globally who conduct randomized evaluations based on administrative data held by governments, NGOs, or private companies. RET is an integrated group that works together in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities include working with faculty and senior experts on the creation of guidelines, best-practice papers, case studies, instructions, and toolkits on key topics regarding administrative data; engaging with stakeholders and providing hands-on training to build the technical capacity of data producers who can be long-term strategic partners; and collaborating with other staff who manage related tasks.
REQUIRED : master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in data science, computer science, economics, political science, public policy, or related field; at least five years' relevant experience (graduate school academic experience including teaching and research may count as relevant experience); interest in poverty alleviation or other social policy and research as demonstrated by coursework and research and teaching experience; knowledge of data management, data analysis, econometrics, and statistics; and proficiency with Stata, R, Python, or other programming languages used for data analysis and willingness to learn new programs.
