The Division of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (S.T.E.M.) seeks to hire a Full time, tenure track, Science Faculty. Primary responsibilities are for Anatomy and Physiology and Biology with other courses as needed.
Anatomy and physiology instructors lead college-level courses covering human body parts, cell structure, tissues and organs. Instructors teach students about the muscular, skeletal, nervous and other systems that make up the human body. Metabolism, homeostasis and fluid balance are all topics that instructors can cover in anatomy and physiology courses. Responsibilities include giving lectures and guiding lab assignments that can include animal dissection and body part identification using models and specimens.
Biology instructors lead college-level courses covering the molecular and cellular basis of life, the theory of evolution and the diversity of microscopic organisms. Second semester Biology courses cover classification of plants, fungi, and animals, their tissues, organ systems, development and reproduction. Responsibilities include giving lectures and guiding lab assignments that can include a large focus on microscopy, observation of live plants and microorganisms, observation of preserved specimens, enzymatic experiments, and electrophoresis.
Provide instruction of his/her assigned course(s)
Responsible for creating a classroom environment which fosters students' academic growth and guides their professional development.
Responsible for the creation and revision of daily lesson plans.
Responsible for accurate record keeping of student attendance and academic progress.
Correct and return quizzes, tests and lab assignments in a timely manner to students.
Follow established institutional guidelines.
Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress.
Serve as coordinator for select courses within the Science department.
Participate fully in curriculum development initiatives in the department.
Attend and participate in all appropriate Department, Division, and College meetings and activities.
Work with colleagues to promote cross curriculum and cross discipline initiatives.
Assist in the recruitment and orientation of new personnel.
Keep current with Instructional Technology
Meets with and advises students during set hours or by appointment.
Serve on at least one of the standing College governance committees (ACUERDO).
Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
Other duties as assigned.
All candidates must have legal authorization to work in the United States
Master's degree in Pathology, Anatomy, Physiology or related Science field.
Three years teaching experience at the college level.
Teaching Experience at a Community College.
Experience working with students from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds who possess wide ranges of academic abilities and interests.
Experience in outcomes assessment a strong plus.
Experience with Instructional Technology is a plus.
Familiarity with Jenzabar or similar online learning applications.
Experience teaching and developing online courses and using OER.
Demonstrated ability to provide diverse teaching methods to different learning styles
Employment experience in a Life Science field is a plus.
Compensation: The salary will be determined based on the guidelines and procedures of the Massachusetts Community College System and collective bargaining agreement.
