Established in 1969, Ramapo College offers bachelor's degrees in the arts, business, humanities, social sciences and the sciences, as well as in professional studies, which include business, elementary education, nursing and social work. The College also offers articulated programs, including dental, optometry, chiropractic and health professions, as well as visual arts therapy and law, with colleges and institutions in New Jersey and New York.
Undergraduate students may choose to concentrate their studies in one of five schools with more than 539 course offerings and more than 36 academic programs. Ramapo College of New Jersey seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in the field of Literacy and Education.. The program has been accredited by TEAC and is now moving toward the State of New Jersey's change to CAEP.
Faculty members are expected to maintain active participation in research, scholarship, college governance, service, academic advisement and professional development activities.
Teach three courses per semester.
Teach undergraduate literacy courses for preservice teachers at the elementary and secondary levels and other courses to meet convening group needs
Develop online courses and programs.
Either a masters or Doctorate, EdD/PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a literacy focus, and the other degree, Masters or Doctorate (EdD/PhD) in an education related field, e.g., special education, administration and supervision, etc. (ABD considered, doctorate required by September 1, 2019)
Teaching certificate and a minimum of three years teaching in the public schools, k-12
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
Demonstrated interest in an active program of research.
Literacy Specialist State license
Relevant college teaching experience and research record
Teaching experience with English language learners
Teaching online or hybrid (partially online) courses
A beginning record of scholarly output
Experience in teaching or designing action research
Experience working with diverse populations and/or teaching pedagogies and/or multicultural teaching experience
Experience in urban school settings.
