Lincoln Park Community Services (LPCS) is seeking an Executive Director. This position will help to transform the lives of people experiencing homelessness in and around the Lincoln Park neighborhood by providing thoughtful leadership to a rapidly expanding organization. A community leader over 33 years, last year alone LPCS was able to serve over 31k meals, provide housing and support services to over 500 guests in need and raise over 4-million through donations and grants. LPCS works hard to nurture its relationship with its community partners. Last year, individuals and organizations provided more than 20,000 volunteer hours.
In February, the organization broke ground on a new facility that will double LPCS’s permanent housing units and increase transitional housing by 37%, allowing more guests to be housed. As a comprehensive social service agency, LPCS not only helps people get back on their feet, it also provides tools to assist them become and remain self-sufficient.

The Executive Director serves as the face of the organization, championing the mission through continual innovation and leadership that will take LPCS into the future. The individual in this position is responsible for leading the organization and its stakeholders through continuing growth, and for providing stability and stimulating success throughout all programs. The Executive Director will partner with the Board of Directors to set the organization’s strategic direction and develop policies that align with LPCS’s mission. Other responsibilities include staff administration/development, fiscal management, and external relations.
The ideal candidate for this role will strongly believe in LPCS’s mission and have a successful track record in leadership within a strong mission-driven organization of comparable size. This candidate will also need to be a sensitive, compassionate, and energetic leader.
Leadership and Strategic Planning
Implement and develop operational and strategic plans in alignment with LPCS’ mission.
Communicate a clear vision that is compelling, supported, and effectively implemented.
Serve as the face of LPCS and provide leadership in advocacy, public policy, resource development, and community involvement activities.
Board of Directors
Work with the Board of Directors and the Board President to support and guide Board governance.
Maintain an open and honest relationship with the Board and work collaboratively to set the organization’s strategic direction and policies.
Update Board members on the operations of LPCS, including challenges within the organization.
Manage the schedule of Board meetings and preparation and distribution of materials for each session.
Administration and Staff Development
Manage the programs, administrative activities, and development of staff.
Maintain a functional and efficient organization through effective communication and development of the team.
Lead and maintain a high-performing team, and recruit and work to retain strong members of the team.
Act as a mentor and leader for staff and help them grow within their roles.
Develop measurable goals and objectives to enable staff to provide the highest quality of service.
Identify new opportunities to support the mission and success of LPCS.
Develop plans to address proposed program expansion and implementation.
Oversee the development and financial oversight of the annual budget.
Ensure that all programs and services are executed cost-effectively.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
Manage the development, communication, and implementation of growth strategies and processes.
Present accurate financial reports to the Board.
Manage grants and contracts funding from both private and public sources.
Oversee facility management and manage related vendor relationships.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with local and national businesses, nonprofits, individuals, neighborhood organizations, founding churches, and government entities.
Maintain collaborative relationships with neighbors, including participation in city- and neighborhood- developed safety and security measures.
Increase LPCS’s name recognition and educate local leaders and the public on the organization's commitment to empowering people in making and sustaining life changes.
Serve as an active fundraiser, provide oversight of the strategic direction for development and fundraising and provide support for diversified funding efforts such as major gifts, planned giving, capital campaigns, and special events.
Maintain current knowledge of issues and trends affecting the organization.
Develop a leadership role within the Chicago homelessness community.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s degree in related field preferred
10+ yrs of professional experience
Previous experience in a senior leadership role
Proven ability in generating low-income housing solutions for homeless individual/families
Experience with establishing best practices for providing resources and support to the homeless community
Experience in relationship management and fundraising from government, foundation, and private donors
Prior experience working directly with a board of directors
Prior staff and facilities management experience
Experience in fundraising/relationship management software; previous experience with Raiser’s Edge is a plus
Proven experience analyzing and interpreting financial and programmatic data
History of leading change initiatives
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated growth mindset in prior positions
Prior nonprofit experience preferred
Experience managing multi-site programs preferred
