Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Staff Assistant for the department of OB/GYN for the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Staff Assistant performs a wide variety of administrative and support services within a section, division, or department. This position assists in the planning and support of program activities and coordinates office operations.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Executes assignments and tasks requiring data collection, information gathering, analysis, data entry/retrieval, data base maintenance, and forms and graphics generation utilizing a variety of software packages.
Screens calls and provides information in accordance with organizational policy.
Receives and appropriately handles incoming correspondence, makes appointments, schedules meetings, and responds to inquiries.
Maintains essential records and assists in the maintenance of all activity files.
Prepares and/or compiles data for special reports and analyses, monthly reports, program evaluations, and other related reports within prescribed guidelines.
Coordinates and maintains the department calendar. Exercising discretion, applies informed independent judgment to help manage the Director's time. Makes travel arrangements and prepares meeting agendas.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts, Public or Business Administration, the Social Sciences or a related field, plus two (2) years of professional level experience in a business office, government agency, or university setting.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert force up to 25 pounds.
