The Carolina Snacks and Vending Manager provides leadership and management to the department in successfully planning and leading daily and long-range programs for the effective operation of convenience stores, contracted coffee operations and contracted vending operations on campus. This position develops policies and procedures in regard to the sale of snacks, beverages, coffee and various packaged food and sundries in these operational units. This position is responsible for determining operational goals and determining staffing, and training needs. Works closely with senior leadership and administrators in the schools and departments within the university to ensure the necessary resources are available to meet the programmatic needs of delivering a high superior culture of service and food, snack, coffee and vending. This position works closely with senior management and contracted operations to provide for strategic investments and maintenance and capital projects for the assigned areas.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of supervisory experience in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate extensive experience in convenience store management. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven history of working successfully with beverage vending companies and snack vending companies. Likewise, the ideal candidate will have experience overseeing espresso coffee operations.
Ability to apply thorough knowledge of local, state and federal regulations governing safe food practices. Ability to apply thorough knowledge of supervisory practices and skill in supervising others, including communication skills, how to delegate and assign work, how to deal effectively with difficult employees, how to evaluate performance and to conduct investigations and participate in disciplinary actions; ability to mentor new supervisors; knowledge of state government's human resources interview policies and procedures; thorough knowledge of management concerns (e.g. financial, organizational, and/or strategic objectives). Ability to apply thorough knowledge of applicable information technology, and the impact of work with other systems and programs. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of POS systems, in particular, micros systems.
Ability to coach and facilitate the enhancement of employee competencies as appropriate to the needs of the work unit. Ability to manage resources effectively to provide for employee training and growth to meet the operational goals and objectives. Ability to address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the unit or area of specialty. Ability to coordinate and/or develop career progression strategies for a unit or region. Ability to provide oversight of budget administration as it relates to a specific or multiple program(s).
Ability to independently assess, plan, implement and evaluate work. Ability to make staff assignments and delegate with guidance from policies, procedures and protocols. Ability to recognize problematic processes and procedures affecting operational or physical product. May require ability to offer recommendations for improvements.
