The Staff Nurse - Research, under direction, coordinates implements and conducts multiple research projects, fully integrated with applicable research management systems and processes, as well as the practice of nursing. Assists with the selection, enrollment, education, testing, data entry and monitoring of research project subjects. Provides nursing care to research subjects enrolled in studies.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelorâ™s degree in Nursing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Four years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Formal training or education of advanced human anatomy and physiology.
Experienced in aseptic techniques, infection control policies, procedures and OSHA regulations.
Ability to complete and submit IRB Proposals and Reviews.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Required Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
Current licenses with the Texas State Board of Nurse Examiners.
Basic Life Support (BSL) and ACLS certifications.
Requires some nights and weekend work.
Coordinates, oversees and implements medical care of subjects involved in the conduct of multiple research projects, fully integrated with applicable research management systems and processes, as well as the practice of nursing.
Assists with the selection, enrollment, education, testing, data entry and monitoring of research project subjects. Provides nursing care to research subjects enrolled in studies, maintaining continual clinical assessment of research subjects (e.g. vital signs, placement and care of IV catheters, IM/subcutaneous/IV administration of research and pharmaceutical medications, blood/fat/muscle sample collection and processing per protocol, body composition and exercise testing.)
Executes assigned protocols in accordance with research-governing entity requirements, including but not limited to Sponsor, FDA and IRB requirements.
Oversees the administrative functions of clinical research studies. Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge or research protocols.
Collaborates with other healthcare providers to ensure continuity and efficacy of study protocols and patient care. Develops training and educational material for research projects and orients, educates, and trains appropriate personnel and research subjects.
