The Director of Human Resources (HR), under general direction, provides leadership and direction for all employee services functions to include employment, compensation, benefits and payroll. Plans, develops, and administers HR functions and advises and consults on HR issues. Investigates complaints and participates in strategic planning, budgeting, and policy/procedure development.
Provides overall leadership and plans, develops, and administers a wide range of employee services including, but not limited to, recruitment, employee selection and retention, new employee orientation/onboarding, classification, compensation, leave, time keeping, employee benefits and wellness initiatives, record keeping, compliance, affirmative action, diversity.
Prepares reviews, compiles HR metrics and reports, analyses, and surveys as requested by supervisor. Prepares, reviews, and compiles compliance and other required annual and ad-hoc reports relating to human resource initiatives. Maintains internal database files and tables, and develops custom reports to meet the requirements of university. Write, maintain and support a variety of reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools; develop and administer standard reports, i.e. statistical reports for identified key metrics in human resources.
Provides oversight for the administration and delivery of HR services to include recruitment, compensation, benefits, leave, workers compensation, and payroll. Provides leadership for department along with current leadership team and in absence of supervisor.
Participates in planning, prioritizing and implementing lean business practices in operations to meet department goals and objectives. Develops, implements, and administers policies and projects. Works with all Subject Matter Experts in the review and updates of SOPs to ensure relevant and current HR procedures. Assists in planning and budgeting for department. Handles special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
Develops HR functional training programs and implements these programs campus-wide.
Provide support for HRIS including, but not limited to, researching and resolving HRIS problems, unexpected results or process flaws in an expedient manner; perform scheduled activities; recommend solutions or alternate methods to meet requirements. Identifies training needs of end users and develops and provides the necessary training to meet those needs. Ensure accurate documentation process manuals are designed and updated for all HRIS processes.
Monitors compliance with all unit, department, University, and government standards, policies, and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Seven years of related experience in Human Resources, including at least three years of related supervisory experience.

PHR, SPHR, SHRM- CP or SHRM - SCP.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of employee relations, performance management, benefits, staffing, compensation, and risk management. Knowledge of HR employment law, strategies, management, regulations, and operations. Knowledge of talent acquisition, selection, training, and personnel information systems.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding. Ability to lead in a dynamic organization.
