Saint Andrew’s School is a JK-12 boarding and day school in Boca Raton. The Upper School has 621 students, including 100 boarding students from over 30 countries and several states. We seek a dynamic, experienced educator to oversee all aspects of the residential program and lead the process of creating and implementing a strategic vision for the residential program for the next 5-10 years. The qualified candidate is a culturally competent team player, at least five years experience in residential education, proven administrative ability, and some combination of high level classroom teaching, counseling, residential curriculum design, coaching, or admissions experience.
Position Title: Dean of Resident Life
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Head of Upper School
The Dean of Resident Life will reside on campus and be responsible for all elements of the residential program and the individuals who administer the program. The residential program includes social and educational programming outside of the classroom. The Dean of Residential Life is an integral member of the Upper School Administrative Team which includes the Head of the Upper School, Dean of Students, Associate Dean of Students, 9th Grade Dean, Guidance Counselor, and Director of Wellness.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Head of School and Head of Upper School to develop and implement a strategic vision for residential life
Develop, plan, and coordinate the residential curriculum
Collaborate with the Head of Upper School, Dean of Faculty, and Director of HR to create and implement a performance management process for all resident life faculty
Supervise and mentor Dorm Heads, Team Captains, and residential faculty
Develop and implement regular and on-going training for resident life faculty
Oversee the residence halls and act as a liaison to Operations on all facilities issues in resident life
Collaborate with the Head of School and Head of Upper School on selection process for residential faculty
Teach up to two courses per semester or the equivalent
Coordinate the selection, training, and performance of student prefects
Organize student orientation program
Coordinate with Director of Wellness, Nurse Manager, and Guidance Counselor around all medical, counseling, and Wellness needs for students
Coordinate with Upper School Administrative Team around academic, social, and disciplinary concerns
Communicates regularly with parents around individual student needs and provides general updates to all parents about the residential program
Bachelor’s Degree (advanced degree preferred)
At least five years of experience in residential education
Demonstrated cultural competence
Proven administrative ability
Ability to work as a member of a team
Significant experience in education, which may include classroom teaching, school counseling, athletic or admissions department work, among other areas
