Description The Social Science Division is seeking qualified candidates for the full-time tenure-track position in the Psychology Department. A typical teaching load consists of three five-credit courses plus five office hours per week. Additional responsibilities include student advising, participating in curriculum development and assessment, participating in college governance, maintaining professional expertise in Psychology, using technology that best fits the needs of the students, and developing other strategies to help students meet learning outcomes and succeed, such as creating research opportunities.
COMPREHENSIVE WAGE AND BENEFIT PACKAGE Annual salary is based on a 176-day contract with a minimum of $60,951.40, beginning salary will be determined by the assessment of the candidate's education and related experience. New hires cannot be placed above $65,354.92 unless exceptional circumstances prevail.

ABOUT THEDEPARTMENT Our Psychology Department values student-centered teaching and learning. We serve a diverse student body, offering freshman and sophomore level courses in Psychology. Our curriculum is fully articulated with the University of Washington and our students have a high success rate upon transfer. Our courses include general, physiological, abnormal, lifespan, personality, social, cognitive, human sexuality, sex and gender, positive, and cross-cultural psychology as well as research methods. We offer instructors the opportunity to teach Interdisciplinary Studies courses and in multiple teaching modalities, including online, hybrid, and face-to-face classes. Our faculty are encouraged to develop and design new curriculum, foster inclusivity, and to keep up with disciplinary trends.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL DUTIES Teaching responsibilities: Teach courses at all levels within the Psychology program and by facilitating, evaluating and reporting the learning experiences of all students. Organize and follow course plans for assigned courses that include approved course learning outcomes, course content, and evaluation/assessment criteria, and maintain course currency within the discipline. Provide up-to-date course syllabi that establish clear expectations and document course outcomes for students. Assess and evaluate student learning, and provide precise, timely, constructive, written, and verbal feedback to students regarding their learning, class performance, and professional preparation. Communicate actively with students and create a positive and respectful learning environment that engages all students in teaching and learning activities. Incorporate a variety of teaching and learning strategies, delivery modes, and innovative techniques, including the integration of technology and the latest research, to assist in the achievement and assessment of learning outcomes. Support student success and college pluralism/diversity goals and initiatives, and integrate activities into classes and departmental programs. Engage students in learning about and practicing information literacy as appropriate to the discipline.
Non-teaching responsibilities include: Participate in course, curriculum, and program assessment, review, and revision, including new course/credential development, integrating assessment results along with the latest research and aiming at continuous improvement. Engage in professional-development opportunities on-and-off campus Establish weekly office hours to advise prospective and continuing students and assist students with coursework and classroom related questions. Contribute to shared governance through participation and leadership on college/division/program committees and through individual projects. Engage in scholarly pursuits, including research or creative professional activities related to the discipline, and contribute to the discipline or profession through presentation, publication, exhibition, or performance Represent the college or program in community events, statewide inter-institutional initiatives, or local, state, regional or national professional organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree in Psychology from an accredited institution Two years experience in teaching college-level Psychology Ability to teach in a multi-cultural, multi-ability classroom and advocate for pluralism Experience in and commitment to learner-centered instructional strategies Flexibility and openness to classroom innovation Ability to adapt instructional strategies to a diverse student population Demonstrated understanding of concepts related to teaching and learning theory, curriculum development, and assessment of learning outcomes Effective interpersonal and communication skills (to students and colleagues) in both written and oral form Ability to work in a team environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience in college-level teaching in multiple modalities (face-to-face, hybrid, online) Experience in or ability teach in interdisciplinary learning communities Experience in or ability to involve in college governance Publications, research, scholarship and/or clinical experience Ability to run a psychology laboratory and mentor students on research projects
