Northeastern University (www.northeastern.edu) seeks a highly motivated leader with exceptional strategic, operational, entrepreneurial, and interpersonal skills and deep expertise in enterprise communication, faculty engagement, and customer support to join the leadership team of the University's Office of the CIO as the Associate Vice President (AVP) for Engagement and Experience.
The AVP for Engagement and Experience at Northeastern University will oversee a critical and complex portfolio designed to bring all aspects of Institution wide IT communications, web strategy, and IT support together to advance the mission of the University and provide a seamless experience to the global campus community.
This newly created role reports directly to the Vice President for Information Technology and CIO. By combining campus-wide interaction points under the leadership of a highly strategic professional we aim to inform, support, and delight the campus community at all locations of the University. The AVP for Engagement and Experience will provide strategic leadership and vision to guide IT Communications and Web Services in yielding positive results through marketing (research, strategy, communications), public relations, and be a key partner with the Office of the Senior Vice President for Marketing and Communications in the creation and execution of a campus-wide web strategy.
In addition to managing the communication and web design organizations, the AVP for Engagement and Experience will lead a large support organization that employees both full time staff and student workers. IT Services strives to be leaders in the delivery of services, the transformation of the customer experience, and work to delight the community. It is expected that innovative and future facing approaches to support be employed, including voice activated IoT devices, AI powered recommendation engines, and advanced analytics to be predictive of end user challenges.
The AVP for Engagement and Experience will be a key member of the VP for IT and CIO's executive team and will provide critical insight into the overall operations of the organization. In many cases the AVP for Engagement and Experience will represent the Office of the CIO in campus wide committees and working groups. Finally, the AVP for Engagement and Experience will establish trusted relationships across IT Services to directly support both the communication with new services and the post introduction support modalities.
The successful candidate will have a proven track record of campus-wide IT communications and engagement, an understanding associated with faculty engagement, experience with leading web governance and strategy, as well an understanding of the management of a complex service organization. S/he will be an excellent communicator, exhibit the highest standards in the delivery of work, and be a proven collaborator. 10 years of senior IT management is required as is a bachelor’s degree.
