Employment Type: Permanent Staff (SHRA) Vacancy ID: P009598 Salary Range: $45,000 - $60,000 Position Summary/Description: The SmartUp Program Manager will be dedicated to launching SmartUp in North Charleston, South Carolina. This launch follows on the successful business assistance model already deployed across North Carolina by NCGrowth. SmartUp leverages human and data resources of NCGrowth, the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, Kenan-Flagler Business School, UNC system, and regional partners by matching experienced, competitively-selected graduate students with consulting projects for promising high-growth companies in the North Charleston region. The Program Manager will recruit the business cohort, recruit and supervise graduate student analysts, lead technical assistance teams, identify expert advisors, develop scopes of work and project timelines, and review final deliverables such as business expansion plans, marketing strategies and financial projections. The Program Manager will also coordinate activities with local partners including economic development organizations, other business resource providers, and local government. In addition, the Program Manager will oversee day-to-day activities of SmartUp in North Charleston and provide regular updates and reports to the supervisor and funders. The position is based in North Charleston and is funded by a grant from the SunTrust Foundation to UNC-Chapel Hill's Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Essential Skills: This position requires ability to work independently and effectively manage a diverse cohort of student analysts, community partners, regional stakeholders and businesses. Staying well organized, attention to detail, and being able to communicate clearly are all important to success as this position will manage projects from inception to completion. Success will be measured on client satisfaction and business growth, student management, communication to all stakeholders, and engagement with the greater business community. This position is based in the North Charleston region and will require regular travel within the Charleston region and monthly travel to Chapel Hill, NC. Preferred : Experience working with businesses; experience working with/for local governments; professional experience in North Charleston; ability to relate to people from different social, economic, and political backgrounds.
