This five-year plan, entitled, The Plan for Pitt, will advance our mission. The Assistant Vice Chancellor of Strategic Planning and Performance will report to the Chief Financial Officer. This position will be responsible for partnering with the leadership and University stakeholders to propel strategic planning, advisory services, partnership, coordination, and the identification of measurements and metrics to manage the many organizational improvements and large-scale transformational changes needed to drive our mission. Specific responsibilities include the following:
Coordinate project and initiative planning
Develop processes and tools to regularly report on progress against strategic and operational goals
Serve as an information resource
Drive the enhancement of organizational readiness and skill set of Change Management, as a support function of large scale transformation
Coordinate and manage retreats and functions
Specifically, this leader will be accountable for the following:
Providing strategic counsel around data and process remediation activities and projects across the organization and providing management oversight of project or activity execution where necessary
Providing overall tracking and reporting of all initiative activities, including the development of key metrics and tracking adoption of organizational changes
Partnering with University stakeholders University-wide including Senior Staff, Deans, Regional Campus Leaders, Finance, Information Systems, Human Resources, and other relevant groups to develop and ensure consistency of end-to-end strategy, approach, and prioritization to key cross-organization initiatives impacting the various schools and divisions
Partnering with appropriate stakeholders including the CFO and Chancellor to help influence and drive overall strategic and tactical plans. This will include development of project objectives and timelines, common metrics, measurements, tracking and management tools and approaches.
The Assistant Vice Chancellor of Strategic Planning and Performance must be an exceptional leader, adviser, partner and communicator. Successful candidates will be articulate and possess a demonstrated leadership capability; they must have strong inter-personal effectiveness competencies.
At least 15 years of people management experience including forming, coaching, developing, motivating and retaining team members; preferably with experience managing team members in multiple geographical locations
Experienced leader with a track record of getting results
Sound decision-making skills
Excellent influencing, partnering and negotiating skills with stakeholders with diverse views and a demonstrated track record of gaining commitment to accomplish goals within a shared governance environment
Candidates with a Bachelor's degree and 19+ years of experience may be considered as qualified applicants in lieu of advanced degree.
