The Executive Director of Student Financial Aid leads the effort to create financial opportunities for academically qualified students regardless of their economic circumstances, is a thought leader in the national discussion on college affordability, and helps realize the vision of access, affordability and excellence for students at Ohio State.
The Executive Director of Student Financial Aid is part of the dynamic and high performance Office of Student Academic Success within The Office of Academic Affairs. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Planning.
This position is a high-profile member of the Strategic Enrollment Planning team, which consists of: Undergraduate Admissions, Analysis and Reporting, Graduate and Professional Admissions, Student Financial Aid and Buckeye Link (student one-stop).
This position an integral partner for the Office of Transition and Academic Growth, Office of Academic Enrichment, Office of Government Affairs, University Registrar and many other units and programs in the university's thriving colleges and campuses. The current position oversees four direct reports, $3.7 million in operating funds, and approximately 50 full-time staff.

The Executive Director of Student Financial Aid is responsible for the development of comprehensive strategic planning as it relates to the student financial aid functions for all undergraduate, graduate and professional students on all Ohio State campuses. S/he will lead a student financial aid team that proactively and strategically anticipates and responds to evolving access and affordability opportunities.
The successful candidate will be optimistic, opportunistic, forward-looking, innovative and results-oriented; keeping student success and welfare always at the forefront. S/he will anticipate and be responsive to matters that influence student academic success and retention and graduation rates; broadening the reach of the university in every part of the state, the country and the world.

The Executive Director of Student Financial Aid will:
Create and implement a long-term plan that strategically allocates student financial aid to advance the university's goals, mission and vision. Plan, develop and direct the goals, timetables, priorities, policies and procedures of Student Financial Aid (SFA) accordingly
Direct the administration of Title IV and Title VII programs, ensure compliance with federal, state and local requirements, and provide oversight, direction and coordination for over $1 billion in total financial resources
Provide oversight of all student financial aid operations, including, but not limited to: funds management, NCAA and Big10 athletic compliance, policy analysis/planning, risk management and university compliance, scholarship administration and processing operations
Organize and participate in public events and fundraising activities locally and nationally to foster current relationships and recruit prospective scholarship donors.
Lead all SFA operations and provide efficient and effective services and process for all eligible students attending the university
Work with university partners to create more customized programs for underserved populations to increase yield, retention and graduation rates
Provide leadership for enhancing technology and operations (e.g., universal scholarship application) to guide efficient and effective student financial aid programs and processes
Strengthen internal controls by working to develop and execute a comprehensive audit program for the evaluation of financial aid and university compliance and integration with central compliance functions
In partnership with Analysis and Reporting, utilize data and analytics to make data-informed decisions to ensure financial aid decisions support enrollment goals
Direct the operating, program and personnel budgets of the SFA office; cultivate an environment of affirmative action, equal opportunity, esprit de corps and set the benchmark for quality assurance and excellent service
Connect with key stakeholders and national peers to establish close ties with Ohio State and enhance relationships that can bring critical change to the university and its students; serve as a liaison with university leadership (e.g., University Communications, Government Affairs, etc.), colleges and departments, and represents Ohio State with state and federal government on student debt issues, national committees, etc.
Champion the performance management process within the office
Progressive leadership experience in financial aid or financial services operation within higher education (10+ years)
Experience leading a complex organization through implementing new programs, processes and systems to accomplish goals
Innovative thinker with a record of making an indelible impact in access and affordability
Knowledge of current trends and best practices in financial aid and strategic enrollment planning for both domestic and international populations
Proven quality assurance and understanding of state and federal regulations
Excellent leadership, public relations and team-building skills
Master's degree in Higher Education or related field
Target Salary: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 Annually
