SCOPE OF POSITION The Vice President and Chief Medical Officer (VP/CMO) will serve as the physician leader for their facility (facilities), ensuring effective delivery of care with the highest quality of medical outcomes. The VP/CMO will be a master at developing and building relationships. He/she will facilitate the development of positive relationships within the Medical Staff. The VP/CMO must demonstrate highly developed and effective written and oral communication skills. Assuring quality medical outcomes and clinical excellence is a primary responsibility of this role. The VP/CMO provides effective leadership in facilitating Medical Staff interactions with each hospital's administration and governing boards. The VP/CMO assures effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care consistent with the Mission, Vision and Values of Ballad Health
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE EDUCATION AND LICENSURE The successful candidate will possess the following: * Graduation from an accredited medical school; MD or DO Degree is required as is Board Certification in one of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS). * Additional education and coursework in management or business is desired. Completion of the Physician in Management series of the American Association for Physician Leadership is also desirable as is an advanced management degree, MMM MBA, MHA, MPH, etc. * Licensure or eligibility for licensing to practice medicine in the appropriate state.
EXPERIENCE * Experience as a physician who has served in progressive Medical Staff leadership positions or at least 2 years as a physician executive. * Knowledge of current trends in healthcare quality, EMR, and health system finance. * Strong working knowledge of Medical Staff credentialing and regulatory and legal processes. * Strong negotiation and communication skills. * Strong relationship skills to work with diverse constituents. Possess innate leadership qualities congruent with the Mission and Vision of MSHA, continually striving for improvement in both clinical and non-clinical processes and committee to customer service
