Houston Christian (HC) is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the Choir Director.This is a full-time, exempt position to begin in August 2019. The Choir Directoris responsible for directing the school’s choral programs, preparing students for competitions and performances, assisting with the Spring musical performance, and teaching music and vocal classes. Choral groups may include small and large ensembles, show choir, and pop groups. This position works in collaboration with the Performing and Fine Arts teachers and staff and reports to the Performing Arts Department Chair and Principal.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Music or other applicable field, Master’s degree preferred.
Teacher certification or equivalent.
Experience in choral direction
Musical theater experience preferred.
Recording and/or digital music skills beneficial.
Classroom Experience (Experience in a high school classroom is beneficial)
Proficient in basic technology applications, electronic grade book and curricular software and hardware) (i.e. MS Word, Excel). Google Apps knowledge is beneficial (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail)
Skill and knowledge of SmartBoard is beneficial
Excellent verbal, visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Occasional after school, evening or weekend hours will be necessary.
Contribution to the life of the school outside the classroom is expected.
