Reporting to the Chief Research and International Officer, the Dean will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to the mission of international education and its role in preparing students to be engaged global citizens in their private and professional lives. The Dean will lead, motivate, and inspire a team of professionals to help students' secure transformational learning opportunities, and create an innovative vision for the LIU Global College.
The Dean will be responsible for the success of Global College, including all academic and financial matters and oversight of all overseas centers and programs. The Dean will also engage in long-range strategic planning for Global College and International Education at LIU.
Curricular Leadership: Sets the long-term vision and program for the Global College
Strategic Coordination: Plans, coordinates and delivers the strategic objectives of Global College; works with network of Centers and other strategic partners to develop meaningful, relevant and future-oriented educational platforms that link across the program and create a wide array of attractive degree and non-degree programs
Entrepreneurial Leadership: Develops new programs through grant proposals to support transformational change and pursues fundraising and alumni development strategies for the GC; Liaises with an external advisory board
Managerial excellence: Oversees budgets; Policies; Hires, contracts; Develops and leads a team of teaching and administrative staff both permanent and seasonal; Ensures that the Global College is a community of globally engaged learners participating in a common effort; Works collaboratively to achieve institutional effectiveness; Ensures students have excellent support; Encourages and promotes professional development; Nurtures pedagogical best practices; Evaluates programs' relevancy and viability of curriculum in collaboration with faculty and appropriate offices.
Qualifications: Ph.D. or Ed.D required. Extensive international academic and administrative experience in complex and/or multi-cultural contexts; a minimum of ten years successful relevant experience or demonstrated leadership experience related to the duties of the position. Excellent writing, managerial, organizational, and communication and leadership skills. Candidates are expected to have a record of research or scholarship in a related discipline. Experience living or working abroad and foreign language proficiency preferred.
Special Information: International travel is required up to 4-6 weeks a year.
