Public Health Institute of Metropolitan Chicago (PHIMC) seeks an entry level communications manager to lead internal and external communication strategies for the organization. The full-time Communications Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive communications plan for the organization and its initiatives. This position will develop, maintain, and assess the organizational communications strategy, including website maintenance, social media engagement, language development, correspondence, and staff connectivity. The Communications Manager will have the opportunity to lead, support, and observe various activities of the organization and will be supported and supervised by the Deputy Director of Strategy and Partnerships.

Develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive communications strategy for the organization
Create and maintain PHIMC listserv and external communications, including quarterly newsletter, website, YouTube, and Instagram
Work with program staff to update and develop content for promotion materials including fact sheets, brochures, and website content
Prepare and disseminate press releases and media packets
Conduct research on health communication strategies and make recommendations as necessary
Coordinate pop-up appearances for the Protecting our Patients (POP) Campaign at conference, meetings, and organizational events
Support training and technical assistance platforms for POP champions
Manage PHIMC brand strategy with new partnerships
Track communications metrics for strategic plan
Maintain voice and brand of PHIMC
Provide copyediting guidance and support for all of PHIMC communications
Assess, manage, and reevaluate social media platforms and strategy
Master’s degree and two years’ experience in communications; or bachelor’s degree and five years’ experience in communications
Basic knowledge of public health and healthcare
Proficient with Adobe Suite with basic graphic design skills
Understanding of public relations and marketing activities
Skilled in simplifying complicated concepts into clear language
Proven ability to work independently
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral
Curiosity to seek answers and ability to communicate ideas
Excellent organizational skills
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer skills
