Vanderbilt University Medical Center Executive Search Team is conducting a search for a Director, Analytics and Support Services. This Director will manage several teams supporting revenue cycle operations: - Revenue cycle system support: In conjunction with revenue cycle leadership prioritizes the maintenance and optimization of the revenue cycle core and support applications in coordination with VUMC Health IT. Ensures that staff are provided with training and tools to support successful execution of their daily tasks.
- Revenue cycle analytics: Develops ad hoc reporting and maintains routine reporting within the Epic system using reporting workbench and clarity tools.
- Revenue cycle advisory services: Provides revenue cycle analysis and support to departments within the VUMC enterprise.
- Revenue cycle project management: Supports optimization projects throughout Revenue Cycle.
- Underpayments analysis: Manages a team of analysts and vendors to identify, quantify and ultimately collect under payments.

Position Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience) and 8 yearsâ experience is required
- Masterâs degree in Business, Computer Science, Informatics or a related field, preferred.
Experience - Minimum of seven (7) years of management or consulting experience and success in leading revenue cycle teams focused on systems enhancement and/or analysis. Prefer experience in an Epic Patient Access and Revenue Cycle application environment.
- Extensive knowledge of patient scheduling, ADT, patient movement, hospital and professional Billing and revenue cycle workflow in a large, complex, multi-hospital healthcare setting.
- Strong experience in project management, adhering to target dates and managing new projects

Primary Responsibilities and Activities: - Develops and maintains technical and business knowledge of systems in use or planned for use at VUMC to support revenue cycle operations.
- Working closely with the revenue cycle management team, including vendorsâ technical support teams, to identify solutions for system optimization based on specified requirements in response to legal/compliance requests or planned changes in revenue cycle workflows.
- Works closely with HealthITâs Patient Access Revenue Cycle (PARC) Executive Director and Health IT revenue cycle team leaders to drive improvement into processes within patient access and revenue cycle.
- Actively engages in the Facility/Organization Governance workgroup to understand new system build of departments, bill areas, etc. and its impact on revenue cycle operations, reporting and/or income distribution.
- Coordinates onboarding for outsource revenue cycle vendors. Reviews system performance metrics during onboarding with the vendor and Revenue Cycleâs vendor who provides monitoring tools for this task.
- Provides reporting throughout VUMC Revenue Cycle and VUMC to understand and analyze trends in accounts receivable to improve performance. Works closely with VUMC Finance Business Intelligence and Health IT to determine optimal tool set for reporting development and deployment.
- Manages communication of revenue cycle results through a team of revenue cycle advisors. Translates trends identified by the advisors to revenue cycle operations to resolve identified issues and improve processes to enhance net revenue realization and reduce cost to collect.
- Provides project management for initiatives throughout VUMC revenue cycle.
- Manages the underpayments analysis and collections team to identify underpayment trends. Coordinates the collection of underpayments either directly from payors or with assistance and intervention from Managed Care Contracting or Office of Legal Affairs. Work closely with zero balance vendors to collect on accounts which have previously been relieved from the accounts receivable but may not have been fully collected.
- Attract, retain and develop staff within Revenue Cycleâs support teams.
