This position provides primary administrative support to the Dean of the College of Business and Economics. This position also provides support to the faculty and staff within the college. Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: screening and evaluating correspondence and reports, bringing confidential and sensitive information to the attention of the Dean; maintaining appointment calendars; arranging and booking travel reservations; scheduling and finalizing arrangements of committee meetings; coordinating new appointments, renewal of faculty appointments and promotions; interpreting departmental and administrative policies and procedures to faculty, staff, students and the general public; and assisting other staff within the college in their absence. This position functions under general direction, exercises independent judgment and thinking, and handles multiple assignments simultaneously.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of administrative activities in a high-level office setting
Knowledge of spreadsheets (i.e. Excel), word processing (i.e. Word), calendaring systems (i.e. Outlook,), non-relational database (i.e. Access)
Working knowledge of WISDM, MD Shop@UW processes, Access-On-Line, Fox World Travel site, People Admin and HRS
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive issues concerning students, faculty and staff
Knowledge of budget policies and procedures
Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
Ability to work independently, exercise judgment and decision-making skills
Ability to organize, delegate and prioritize work
Demonstrated ability to work with a sense of urgency
Bachelor's Degree required
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration preferred
