The Accountant position is an operational accountant in the role of providing accounting, reporting, and policy services to all UWRF constituents across campus. The individual in this position provides accounting expertise in one or more business processes, demonstrates a high degree of customer support and relationship management, and promotes operational efficiencies. This position assists in managing UW System's complex accounting structure consisting of numerous funds, day-to-day accounting activities, development and maintenance of accounting records, processing of accounting transitions, reconciliation of accounts, and closing of records.
This position reports to the Assistant Controller under intermittent supervision, working closely with Accounts Payable Staff, the Bursar, and purchasing staff to aid in the maintenance and integrity of the campus Shared Financial System (SFS) modules.
The minimum salary for this position will be $48,000. The final offer will be dependent upon previous experience and education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, or business related field
Three plus years of professional accounting experience Preferred:
Demonstrated ability in applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
A working knowledge of Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), automated accounting system processes, operations, and reporting principles.
Current experience in using financial software packages (e.g., PeopleSoft or other enterprise software)
Proficiency in creating complex spreadsheet and word processing applications using Microsoft Office suite.
Knowledge of and ability to use creative problem-solving techniques.
Experience establishing and maintaining working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
