Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Director of Research Services for the Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED). As part of ORED, the Director of Research Services directs Rutgers' involvement with external in-vivo contract research as well as supports Rutgers' faculty and staff research activities. With regard to external contract research, the Director negotiates, authors and executes contracts for the utilization of Rutgers in-vivo research facilities. The Director acts as the Principal Investigator and representative for all interactions with Rutgers IACUC to include protocol initiation, amendment, review and audit.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides training and collaborative opportunities between Rutgers research laboratories and core facilities where applicable.
Performs outreach activities to inform and engage industry members about in-vivo research opportunities at Rutgers/Research Services
Develops a strategic plan to grow the in-vivo services group.
Negotiates, collaborates on and executes in-vivo studies either on behalf of or in collaboration with the industry.
Provides and facilitates opportunities to support in-vivo research and grant activities to include study and model design, development, training and study execution.
Coordinates and facilitates collaborations between Rutgers faculty research laboratories and industry where applicable.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and a license to practice in at least one state. If degree not attained in the U.S., a certificate (e.g. Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG)) of equivalent training accepted by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is required.
A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in laboratory animal medicine which includes institutional veterinary research (academic, industrial or government), including a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience.
Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine (ACLAM)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Progressively advanced experience in a diverse AAALACi accredited laboratory animal research programs, including biomedical and agricultural research.
Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, diplomacy and the ability to effectively interact and build trusted relationships.
