Randolph-Macon Academy has a full-time opening in the Upper School female dorm.
The Cadet/Student Life Supervisor is responsible for providing quality supervision to students in a boarding school environment. This includes leading and managing the residential life programs, curriculum, and intertwining residential life and the Academic program. This position reports to the Director of Student Life.

Maintain a visible presence in the dormitory to provide a pro-active culture
Provide quality supervision in all dorm environments at the Academy
Help develop and implement dynamic residential life curriculum
Reinforce the leadership program at the Academy
Provide guidance to students to help them follow the rules of the Academy as outlined in the Cadet/Student Life Manual
Lead and supervise all student activities after the Academic and sports time of the day is over
Positively build relationships with students, parents, dorm staff and others
Proactively manage the dorm to maintain a safe environment
Prepare schedules for all dorm staff – full time, part time and summer
Work closely with other dorms to share dorm cross-curriculum
Assess, evaluate and make recommendations on student life events
Write detailed incident reports if needed
Distribute student medications when needed (after trained)
Exercise independent judgement on a regular basis with regard to student life issues (relationships, family life issues, homework, sports, etc)
Assist with dorm inspections
Assist with the student disciplinary processes as needed
Provide help with homework as needed
Assist with writing the Cadet/Student Life Manual and Cadet Supervisor Manual
Must live in the dorm on the hall with the students as a condition of employment (1 bedroom apartment provided free of charge)
Must enjoy working with High School and Middle School age students – must be creative, consistent, empathetic and dynamic
Working knowledge of High School and Middle School age students, developmental needs, and how to connect
Supervisory experience preferred
Experience with scheduling and writing/implementing curriculum preferred
Prefer Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
Proven track record of success with student achievement
Ability to balance the needs of students, families, coaches and faculty
Excellent communicator with ability to produce ideas, communicate them, make recommendations and positively influence the outcome
Strong interpersonal skills
Strong leadership, management and supervisory skills
Ability to exercise sound judgement
Proven ability to establish solid positive working relationships
Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information with the highest ethical standards and meticulous attention to detail
Prefer private boarding school experience
Prefer military experience
Additional Salary Information: must reside in one bedroom apartment in dorm as a condition of employment (rent and utilities are free)

Founded in 1892, Randolph-Macon Academy is a co-ed boarding and day school for approximately 400 students in grades 6-12. The foundational principles of the Academy are: Knowledge, Leadership, and Character. The Upper School is built on a military (AFJROTC) format; the Middle School is civilian.
